Everything below is a plain statement of what the instrument collects, why it collects it, and what you can require us to do about it. It is written to be tested against the instrument's behaviour rather than to protect us. Where a claim here is specific, it is specific because the code does that specific thing.
Nothing on this page is decorative. If any of it turns out to be untrue, that is a defect and we would like to hear about it.
While the app is running, Corso records the accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer and GNSS (GPS) receiver to measure vehicle acceleration.
Recording continues while the screen is off. This is necessary rather than incidental: the app measures a car accelerating, and a measurement that stops when the screen dims is not a measurement. A notification is visible whenever recording is active, and it carries a Stop button.
Location is used in two different ways, and only one of them is stored.
Used but not stored: precise GNSS position and Doppler speed, on your phone, to calculate acceleration. This is the measurement itself.
Stored: a geohash truncated to roughly 20 km, attached to a run so a leaderboard entry can say which region a time was set in. Four characters of geohash. It is deliberately too coarse to identify a road, let alone an address, and the precision was chosen for that reason.
Corso never stores or publishes your exact position, your home, or a route.
Name, location as free text at whatever precision you choose, the year you started driving, a short description, and an Instagram handle.
Every one of these is optional and blank by default. They are shown to anyone who opens your profile. We do not ask for your date of birth, your address, your phone number, or your photograph.
Make, model, year, trim, power, mass, drivetrain, modifications, and optionally a Dutch licence plate used once to look up the public vehicle register (RDW). The plate is stored so the lookup does not have to be repeated.
The full raw recording of each measured run is stored.
This is unusual enough to explain. Corso's estimator has been corrected repeatedly, and each correction improved every previously stored run without anyone driving again. Discarding the raw data would mean discarding that. The logs contain accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer and GNSS speed traces — not a position track.
Anything you post in the public channel or a private group, kept until you or a moderator deletes it.
Your IP address is used transiently for rate limiting and is not stored against your account. Your device model is recorded with each run because the sample rate a phone actually delivers affects the measurement's accuracy.
Corso contains no third-party advertising or analytics code.

Public to anyone using the app: your username, profile fields you filled in, your vehicle, your times, and the approximate region of a run.
Visible to members of a private group: what you post in it.
Nobody else. Corso does not sell data, does not share it with advertisers, and has no analytics partners. Data is processed on servers in the EU.
Account data is kept while the account exists. Raw logs are kept while the account exists, because they are what makes re-scoring possible. Messages are kept until deleted. Rate-limiting records last one hour.
Under the GDPR you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, export in a portable format, or restriction of processing. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interest, and complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Deletion needs nobody's permission and no waiting. Do it yourself, immediately, either in the app under Settings or at hoscorp.nl/delete-account.html without installing anything. It removes your account, vehicles, runs, the raw logs as files, and your messages, and takes your times off every leaderboard at the same moment. Nothing is kept anonymised and there is no copy to restore from.

Corso is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and it will be removed.
Corso measures acceleration. It does not encourage, reward or rank illegal driving. Runs are only counted from a standstill in conditions the app can verify, locations are deliberately blurred so a time cannot be tied to a road, and metrics above 100 km/h are only ranked at verified circuits or on derestricted Autobahn.
Use it where it is legal and safe to do so.
Material changes will be announced in the app before taking effect.
